What’s the hardest part of writing YA fiction?
Editing it. I’ve been saying for a while now that writing the story is the easy part, It’s the editing and promoting that’s the hardest.
When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve wanted to become a writer since grade school, Of course as I grew older real life got in the way for a little while but I got inspired a few years ago and Revelations was born.
Have you found any clever ways to market your books to YA readers?
I wish. I find marketing the hardest aspect of the whole writing, editing, publishing, promoting circle. Most sites want a lot of money without any real promises of how well they will promote your books. I try to look for sites that don’t charge and other authors who are willing to help me and vice versa.
What YA books have had the greatest influence on your writing?
I have to say not the book, but the author. Every time I get discouraged I would think of JK Rowling and her story about how she would sit in a coffee shop and write with her baby. And how a lot of publishing companies turned her down. (I bet they’re kicking themselves now for that) I try to keep in mind that every author out there started the same way and that not everyone is gong to like my books.
Author Bio: I was born and raised in a small town called Little Falls, New York. After graduation, I moved to Long Island with my high school sweetheart and we were married shortly after. We soon added three biological children and adopted two through the foster care system to complete our family. As a kid, I loved books, and with the urging of my grade school teacher to ‘Keep on writing’ I’ve been writing ever since. Although real life got in the way of my becoming an author for awhile, I’m back on track with my release of Revelations. http://www.PamelaDaniell.com
