A mythic warrior who’ll stop at nothing to possess her . . .
After enduring years of torture from the vampire horde, Lachlain MacRieve, leader of the Lykae Clan, is enraged to find the predestined mate he’s waited millennia for is a vampire. Or partly one. This Emmaline is a small, ethereal half Valkyrie/half vampire, who somehow begins to soothe the fury burning within him.
A vampire captured by her wildest fantasy . . .
Sheltered Emmaline Troy finally sets out to uncover the truth about her deceased parents — until a powerful Lykae claims her as his mate and forces her back to his ancestral Scottish castle. There, her fear of the Lykae — and their notorious dark desires — ebbs as he begins a slow, wicked seduction to sate her own dark cravings.
An all-consuming desire . . .
Yet when an ancient evil from her past resurfaces, will their desire deepen into a love that can bring a proud warrior to his knees and turn a gentle beauty into the fighter she was born to be?
My Review:
A great follow up to “The Warlord Wants Forever”! I loved every bit of it.
I absolutely loved Lachlain, maybe even more than I loved Wroth. I don’t know though, it might be about the same. I might just love him more because I read Wroth’s story a little while ago.
Speaking of Wroth though, I love how this story tied in with the first book. It’s not often a series has the next book in the series going along at the same time as the previous. I thought that was an interesting twist and very unique. It was also cool to see Wroth and Myst at the end leaving right off where they were at the end of the first book.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I liked Emma. She was just really stubborn and even when she did want Lachlain, she pushed him away. I felt so bad for him. But it made for a good read. I thought she was stupid when she went off to kill Demestriu by herself. But it worked out in the end.
I was kind of upset with the coven in general with how much they doubted Emma and put her off as a weakling. She seems to only be like that because they sheltered her so much. Once she was out on her own, she proved her worth to them.
There was a lot less sex in this one than was in The Warlord Wants Forever. But there was A LOT of sex in that one. I did like that though, but this was still good despite that. I thought the buildups to the sex scenes were more realistic in this one, but I did love the rawness of The Warlord Wants Forever.
So overall, I loved this story and I loved Lachlain and Emma! I think it’s interesting that at this time of The Accession, their group (the Valkyrie) is starting to mix with other beings (Vampire’s – Wroth, and Lykae’s – Lachlain). I wonder if that will play into the upcoming stories, like perhaps the merging is happening for a reason.
Anyways, loved the book, love the series, can’t wait for the next one!
