Rating:
Kate Daniels cleans up the paranormal problems no one else wants to deal with-especially if they involve Atlanta’s shapeshifting community.
And now there’s a new player in town-a foe that may be too much for even Kate and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, to handle. Because this time, Kate will be taking on family.
My Review:
Another villain is in town and only Kate can stop them. The problem with this case though is that it hits a bit too close to home and her family she tries to forget she’s apart of. In the meantime, Kate and Curran’s relationship is moving forward. But if you’re a fan of the series, then you know that nothing between Kate and Curran can be easy, as they both fight to be alpha in the relationship.
I liked this one. But it didn’t have that “together” feel that I loved about the last book. Although Kate got help from the usual suspects, what I really loved about the last book was it really felt like Kate and all her friends were a team. So I missed that a bit. However, speaking of together, Kate and Curran’s relationship really moves forward in this one (I won’t say anymore) so that was extremely awesome. I’m happy to finally see more between them than just the fun banter back and forth.
There didn’t seem to be as much sarcastic humor though. There was some, but I remember there being more in the past books. Actually at one point Andrea points out that Kate isn’t being her usual sarcastic self, so I think it was meant to be that way. But I missed that a lot.
I also sometimes get really confused with all the names being thrown around. There’s a lot of shapeshifters and such that we meet, and then they’re kind of not in the books for a little while, and then we meet them again later on. There’s just a lot of names going on and sometimes I have trouble keeping track of who’s who and what they did in the past.
Aside from those couple things though, I definitely still enjoyed this one and I’m still enjoying the series. I’m very happy with the progress that was made in Kate and Curran’s relationship and I can’t wait to see what happens with that next.
