Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire — a nightmare in his mind — against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.
A Valkyrie assassin dispatched to destroy him . . .
When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow — accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever she encounters Sebastian, her feelings — particularly lust — emerge multiplied. For the first time, she’s unable to complete a kill.
Become competitors in a legendary hunt.
The prize of the month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, and Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity — as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world — to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when forced to choose between the vampire she’s falling for and reuniting her family, how can Kaderin live without either?
My Review:
I really liked this third book in The Immortals After Dark series, but not as much as the first two.
I really liked Sebastian a lot. For most of the book though, I honestly thought that he deserved way more than Kaderin. She was mostly cruel and cold to him and yet he still kept after her.
In the previous books I felt that even though the male was fated after his female, he would have still chosen her because he loved her, but this one I’m not so sure. Kaderin was nothing but cruel to him and he even said on multiple occasions that he didn’t love her.
I just think that there could have been more of a connection between them built. It seems that she ultimately only fell for him because he saved her life, which is not a reason to be with someone forever.
Although, I really did like Sebastian and I’m glad it ended happily. I also think that they should let Bowen have a chance with his mate since they have two more shots with the key. It only seems right, after all. Poor Bowen just wants his love.
It looks like the next one is Bowen’s story, but he’s going to fall in love with someone else. I just think he should have had a love story with him bringing his mate back.
Oh well. I’ll keep reading on in the series, but I have to say that the first two books had a lot more love and a lot more sex than this one. That was a bit disappointing. I didn’t really get the whole Hie thing. Why have a random game like that? I don’t know, it seems weird. There was also barely any sex, as in the first two books.
Hopefully the following books will have more though. We shall see…
