Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?Together, they can face anything.
But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?And will they even be together?
My Review:
Origin picks up just about where Opal left off. Katy has been taken and Daemon will do anything he has to do to get her back. Like the previous books in the series Daemon is absolutely perfect, Katy remains strong in tough situations, and most of all the book is more entertaining than I could possibly hope for.
I was super excited about this book being from both Katy and Daemon’s perspective, but I was also unsure how it would be because of Katy and Daemon being apart for at least a portion of the book. Each of them had the challenge of standing on their own without leaning on the other character and I was curious and a little worried about how that would play out for the story.
Thankfully I really had nothing to worry about. Once I picked up Origin I was practically super glued to it and wizzed right through it all to quickly. If there’s one thing that Armentrout does tremendously (and there is more than one thing, I assure you), it’s weaving a fast-paced, high adrenaline story that will keep you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover. There’s no question about that. Her storytelling skills are off the charts and she’s one author who will be around for a long, long time (as long as she’s willing to give us more of her wonderful stories).
I have only read one other series from her (the Covenant series) and I can tell you that the Lux series isn’t a fluke in that the woman knows how to write, but it’s also something really special. I really wish she had more than five books planned because the magnitude of the threat that Daemon, Katy, and the others are going up against is so huge (and only getting bigger with each book). I could easily see this being an on-going series and I really, really wish it was. That being said, I’m excited to see what Armentrout has planned for the last book and where she’s been going with the series from the start. I just hope it’s long and not rushed because it seems like there’s so much more than needs to happen before everything can be resolved!
Origin breaks new ground and takes the reader to a new place within the Lux world. It’s yet another strong book within one of the strongest young adult paranormal series I’ve ever read and it has everything its readers are looking for in a book. If you haven’t picked up this series yet, I can’t urge you enough to do so. I have yet to meet anyone who hasn’t loved this series and there’s a reason for that, I assure you! This is the BEST OF THE BEST in the YA genre!
