Grace and Sam share a kinship so close they could be lovers or siblings. But they also share a problem. When the temperature slips towards freezing, Sam reverts to his wolf identity and must retreat into the woods to protect his pack. He worries that eventually his human side will fade away and he will be left howling alone at the lonely moon. A stirring supernatural teen romance.
My Review:
This book was so good. I was honestly a little hesitant that it would be trying to copy Twilight too much since I heard about it so soon after those books. However, I read it in just one day because I just couldn’t put it down! I am a huge sucker for love and fantasy mixed – so that probably did it for me. Yes, I loved Twilight. I don’t care if people think those books were dumb, I loved them.
I loved the characters, especially Sam. I also actually really liked Isabel. She had this sarcastic humor that was just me – “I’m walking across the yard. I’m walking across the part of the grass my dog used to pee on before my damned brother ate her.” and just other parts. She was just really funny and genuine to me.
I also thought it was a cool twist to have the book from both the female and male perspective. Every other chapter or so we got to hear from the other person’s point of view. At first I thought that was going to get really confusing for me, but I actually really liked that about this book. It was unique.
The only thing I didn’t really like was how fast they seemed to move – relationally. While I’m all for the mushy romance and all, I felt like it could have been drawn out a little more – if for nothing else to make the reader want it to happen more. They kissed so fast after meeting – in the flesh – and although the actual sex didn’t happen for a little while, I still felt it could have waited a little bit. I don’t know. I was still happy it happened and that their relationship was so beautiful and easy. It was just so sweet to read about them. Sam is so sensitive and sweet and you just can’t help but love everything about him.
Anyways, I hear there’s more of this series so I’m really excited about that and I will definitely be reading them!
