My Review:
Lords of the Underworld fans, myself included, have been awaiting Paris’ story for…well, it feels like forever! Really his story started, what six or seven books ago? I can’t remember when he met Sienna, but it’s been quite a awhile for poor Paris. I can’t say I’ve really ever understood him and Sienna together, but hey, as long as he’s happy, I’m good.
I think his book did his story justice, and while I’ve read a few reviews that said it didn’t quite live up, I have to disagree. I think we all kind of go into a book like this expecting the world, but you have to realize just that. You’re always going to expect way more from a book you’ve been anticipating from a favorite series than from another book in the same genre. So I think, putting aside the fact that this is Paris’ story, the book was really good. I literally could not put it down.
Now, if I were to complain about anything, it would be that the relationship between Sienna and Paris was a little bit lacking. It just seemed like their relationship revolved a bit too much around sex. I wasn’t feeling the connection between them other than the fact that Paris could get it up for her more than once, which was never really explained. They did get into some conversations about themselves, but I still couldn’t really feel the chemistry other than sexually between them. Secondly, it felt a little bit too easy between them. I realize that their story has been built up for many books, but they still both fell hard and quick for each other, with not really much resistance from either of them.
Aside from Paris and Sienna, this book is a lot more though. It has a lot of side stories going on, building up the future books. This kind of thing can be a hit or miss for me. Sometimes too many side stories can make the book feel bogged down and confusing. But in this case it felt like it made the book but more dynamic and interesting. It was a long book because of that, but it still went by quickly — too quickly even. I was truly interested in every story going on. Now I’m just really anxious to see who’s book will be next! There are so many potentials that I’m excited to read about! Among them I’m hesitatingly curious about the relationship between Galen and Legion. I’ve never really been a fan of either of them, but I can’t help but want to hear their story.
Overall, this was another great LOTU book. I can’t recommend this series enough for paranormal romance fans, it’s one of my favorites! The romances are sweet and hot, the characters are awesome, and the story is ongoing and really interesting. Speaking of characters, William and Anya will still keep you laughing all the time. I also am really interested in one of the new players in town, Viola (minor goddess and keeper of Narcissism). She’s definitely narcissistic! But she reminds me of Anya in some ways, and she’s really funny — more in a laughing AT her rather than WITH her kind of way, but still hilarious.
But anyways, awesome book and it went by way too fast! I can’t wait to see who the next book will be about, and of course to read the spinoff series abut the angels!
