Book Cover Summary:
Schoolteacher Rumer Larkin never felt the need to stray from Hubbard’s Point. Rich with legends of seafaring spirits and lost treasures, the rustic village echoes with the memories of Rumer’s past — even after those she loved have left. Many summers after Zeb Mayhew broke her heart, he returns with his teenage son, and Rumer knows her quiet life will never be the same again.
Zeb has come back hoping to reconnect with his son, with the past and all its mistakes. Suddenly facing Rumer again, Zeb discovers where he belongs. He could never forget the girl who used to climb onto his roof with him to watch the stars. Both Zeb and Rumer wonder if it’s too late to do more than regret the path not taken — or of every path leads us back to the one true love of our life…
Review:
This was a really great book about two childhood friends who nearly became lovers only to have their love torn apart by a jealous sibling. I am normally a pretty slow reader because when I was younger I didn’t love reading very much but I read this very quickly because I just couldn’t put it down. In the midst of their love story, several other stories broke through including another love story, an older man wanting one last adventure sailing across the Atlantic, a small town experiencing quite a lot of change, and a woman trying to forgive herself for her past mistakes.
I found it all to be really well written and enjoyable to read. The stories within the story flowed well together and I liked the way it ended. Great book overall!
