There is need. And then there is Fate…Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn’t exactly awesome–especially when Alexandria’s “other half” is everywhere she goes. Seth’s in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom–so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do–and sacrifice–for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies–lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon… and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn’t blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude… or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.
My Review:

If you’re one of those people who, after reading Half-Blood, couldn’t help but notice the similarities to Vampire Academy, then you’ll be happy to know that those similarities ended with that book. Pure was a great book and definitely stood on it’s own. At times, it was slow-paced, but even so it was a tough book to put down.

I think what really made this book for me were the interactions between Seth and Alex. I really liked Seth when we were introduced to him at the end of the last book, and in Pure he managed to make me love him even more. That’s not to say I don’t love Aiden too. So this is a very tough love triangle. I think I’m more on the Seth side than the Aiden side after this book, but it’s still a really hard choice. I think she should just keep both of them. :) But back to Seth and Alex. They made this book. Their personalities are so compatible it’s not even funny. They’re both sarcastic and impulsive, and that’s what makes them so much fun.

Alex I still really like. I think I liked her even more in this book. The really kind of stupid choices she made in Half-Blood were still present a bit here, but for some reason I wasn’t as annoyed by them. I think because I’ve come to understand that that’s just Alex. She’s impulsive and irrational, and while those could be flaws, that’s also where her strength comes from too.

The story for this one kind of continued along the same lines, but at the end we get an interesting twist that I’m hoping will make the next book a little more action-packed and on-the-go.

Overall, this was a really fun book and I’m loving this series. The love interests are as swoon-worthy as it gets, the heroine is strong-willed and fun, and it’s just a world you really want to jump into. I can’t wait to read the next one!
