Laura comes from a world similar to our own except for one difference: It is next to the Place, an unfathomable land that fosters dreams of every kind and is inaccessible to all but a select few, the dreamhunters. These are individuals with the ability to catch larger-than-life dreams and relay them to audiences in the magnificent dream palace. People travel from all around to experience the benefits of the hunters’ unique visions. Now, fifteen-year-old Laura and her cousin Rose, daughters of dreamhunters, are old enough to find out if they qualify to enter the Place. But nothing can prepare them for what they are about to discover. In the midst of a fascinating landscape, Laura’s dreamy childhood is ending, and a nightmare is beginning.
My Review:

This book was pretty good. It’s definitely kept my interest and I will be reading the second one. A couple things I didn’t like:

– Every once in a while the writer will start writing the story from an outsiders point of view and instead of saying who the characters name is, she will talk about them as if we don’t know who they are for a few paragraphs, until it’s revealed that it’s a character we already know. I thought this was kind of annoying, except for the part where it is Tziga and it’s kind of a surprise to find out it’s him. Other than that, it wasn’t necessary.

– I’m also all for having two books, but I kind of hate cliff hanger books where absolutely nothing is resolved so you HAVE to read the second one in order to find out how the story resolves itself. However, I will be reading the second one anyways.

– Also the writing style is a little different for me. I’m not sure if I liked it or not. Some points I was a little lost as to what was going on, but then realized after a few paragraphs. It was just kind of a weird writing style.

What I LIKED:
– VERY unique storyline and concept. I’ve never heard anything like it so it was very intriguing.
– Kept my interest very easily and kept me turning the page for more.
– The imaginary is pretty good, although some of the descriptions are a little hard to follow/vague.

Overall a great read though and I will certainly be reading the next one!
