Aisling Grey is a courier enjoying a free, work-related trip to Paris when she learns she’s a Guardian. That’s a keeper of the Gates of Hell, for those who don’t know. She finds this out from Drake Vireo, who’s scrumptiously sexy-at least in his human form. Now Drake has stolen the package Aisling was sent to deliver, and she must track him down, get the package, and try to resist the passion boiling inside her.
My Review:

You Slay Me follows Aisling Grey into a world that she never thought really existed, but a world she’s very much apart of as a Guardian — whether she likes it or not. Aisling ventures to Paris as a courier in order to deliver a very expensive package. But once there she finds it quite literally impossible to leave and she must solve a murder case herself in order to get herself out of the line of fire.

This was a really fun and lighthearted Urban Fantasy and I enjoyed it a lot. I will say that Aisling seems a little bit too bossy at times and considering she’s just found herself plopped into the Otherworld, it’s a little unrealistic how well she takes control of various situations. However, it is supposed to be a light read so I didn’t think too much about it. But what really made the book laugh out loud funny is Jim, who we meet about a hundred pages into the book. I won’t get into who he is, but let’s just say he’s hilarious and for me personally made the book.

The mystery and story was good and I didn’t figure it out right away but it was a little bit too predictable too soon. I wish I wouldn’t have known until the very end, although there were some surprises I didn’t figure out. The romance was okay, although I didn’t quite feel the chemistry between Aisling and her love interest, but it’s also a relationship that I think will progress throughout the next three books in the series.

Overall this was a fun read. Definitely a light read that you don’t need to take too seriously. I’d recommend it to those who are fans of the Charley Davidson series. Although I love that series a lot more than this one, I think people who like those books will also enjoy this one. I’ll definitely be finishing out the series (four books total), although I am concerned about how the series will end (abruptly or planned) because I’ve heard this series was canceled rather than purposefully ended after the fourth book. So we’ll see how that goes. But so far a light and funny read.
