My Review:

Storm thrusts us, along with Becca, into the world of the Merrick brothers. It’s quite a dangerous and exciting world full of unique element-based powers that enable each of the brothers to control one of the elements – Earth, Fire, Air, and Water.  This book though belongs to Chris, who controls Water.

What I loved most about this series, even before going into it, is that at least I think it’s going to be a full-on young adult paranormal romance. Not an urban fantasy with a romance in there. But each book is going to be about a different brother and his love story. I find that so unique in the young adult genre. You just don’t see that very often!

However, the love story is the one problem I had with the book. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it. I even actually kind of liked the love triangle going on with Hunter (who I loved also by the way). But if this is it for Becca and Chris’ (and Hunters’) story, then it’s a bit disappointing. In the end, there still felt like so much more to the story for these three. Becca kinda-sorta chose, but I still feel like there’s more to tell. I think perhaps in the future Hunter might get a book though, so we’ll see where all that goes.

Other than that feeling that there’s more love story to be told, this was a great book. It had sort of a mystery surrounding who was coming after the guys, and seemingly after Becca too, and lots of action. Speaking of Becca though, I loved her! She had a great voice and I loved that she was sarcastically fun at times, but still strong despite the amazingly rough things she’s had to go through.

As for the other characters, I really liked them all. I loved Hunter, and the other brothers. My favorite brother at this point has to be Gabriel, who I am going to absolutely love seen taken down a notch by his future girl. Although, I am very intrigued by somewhat quiet Nick, and of course Michael after his short story we get at the end of the book. I really hope he gets a book even though I’m pretty sure he’s not a teen anymore. But still!

Overall, this was a fun book. And don’t let all my gushing over the amazing guys in the book fool you. There’s a lot more to the book and the world. Elementals are really fascinating and I’m curious to see what kind of other powers we see in the future books. If you’re looking for a young adult book with lots of romance, action, and mystery, then definitely check this one out.
