Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses Seth Mortensen, the shy, sexy, incredibly gifted Seattle writer she’s been dating, she’ll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus – a demon who draws her power from other men’s pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can’t get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is…It’s not just her personal life that’s in chaos. Doug, Georgina’s co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behaviour, and Georgina suspects that something far more demonic than double espressos is at work. She could use help finding out, but Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, is preoccupied with corrupting an ultra-conservative talk radio star – and giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one – and fast because soon, Doug’s life won’t be the only one on the line…
My Review:

When I left off after Succubus Blues I was sure that I loved Georgina, but not so sure about her possible love interests. In Succubus On Top, the tables have turned a bit. I feel much better about Georgina’s love interest, but I am now a little bit disappointed in Georgina. I won’t get into why, but she just makes some absolutely awful choices in this book. I mean, I can sort of sympathize with her reasons, but at the same time that doesn’t make it okay.

So that’s my only real issue with this book. The relationship between Georgina and Seth is something that seemed doomed from the start. While I definitely love Seth more now, I also don’t really see how it’s going to work out between them given their situation and what Georgina is. It’s a tough one, that’s for sure. I hope it works out in the end cause Seth is a good guy (but maybe sometimes a little too good for his own good).

Aside from the love story, the plot for this one actually seemed quite a bit smaller scale and less climactic than the first book. But, at the same time, it held my interest better. I think because the characters are really growing on me and I’m becoming more invested in them. The resolution happened a little bit too easy for me, but I have a feeling it’s something that will come up in a future book. We’ll see.

Overall, despite the fact that my girl Georgina let me down a bit in this one, it was still a great book and I really and truly want to pick up the next one like right now. It was just a fun read that I found myself lost in quite easily. Unfortunately I can’t pick up the next one yet, but I can’t wait to see what happens next when I do!
