And tightens.
My Review:

I picked up this one right after finishing The Girl in the Steel Corset, so it was nice because I was still in the mindset for the book and the world. This one starts off right where that one off where Finley and her friends have to head to America in order to save their friend Jasper, who was taken from London.

The similarities The Girl in the Steel Corset shared with the Infernal Devices series were definitely gone from this book, which was nice. I liked that it broke away from the Machinist stuff and went into a different storyline. It was a fun and fast-paced story that kept hold of me the whole time.

In this one I gotta say I love Finley even more. She’s just an awesome chick. You’d think that since these take place in 1897 she wouldn’t be as ballsy and she is. But this girl’s got guts and she’s not all talk either. I love that. I also just love their little gang. It’s such fun all of them working together to take out the bad guy. These would make a really cool TV show I bet.

Other fun things that happened are a Tesla appearance? I know, right. Very interesting but when you think about it Tesla could’ve been considered steampunk-y with the ideas he came up with. So I liked how they meshed the real experiments he did with the storyline. So cool.

Overall I really enjoyed this one and I’ll definitely be reading on. I liked that they got to venture outside of London, so I kind of hope they’ll end up in other places too. Maybe not, but who knows. Definitely pick these up if you’re a steampunk fan or if you’re thinking of trying out the genre. I haven’t read much steampunk but I think this is probably a more mild version of it because although it definitely is a steampunk novel, the machines and stuff are not too out there as to be super weird. But the way it ended? Did not see that coming, and very creepy cool. Can’t wait for the next one!
