Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland – known as The Death Shop – are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild – a savage – and her only hope of staying alive.A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile – everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.
My Review:

Under the Never Sky is a really unique blend of dystopian, sci-fi, and fantasy. I was actually quite surprised. I thought it would be just a regular dystopian set in a post-apocalyptic world or something to that effect. But quite honestly, I don’t even know if it takes place on our planet with some of the things going on. Of course, I could be wrong, but it wasn’t really quite clear.

Which brings me to my first, and really only, problem with the book. The world building was quite minimal and so the world was very confusing for most of the book. Even some aspects I still never really understood by the end. What was the world like before the Realms? Why are some people Dwellers and others Outsiders? What is the Aether? How did the world become separated like it is? How/Why are Outsiders Marked? Things like this. The world I think could have been expanded on and I really wanted to know more about it. Because it’s such a unique world I had trouble understanding some of these things and I really wish they would have been built upon a bit more.

Other than that though I really liked the book. It had lots of adventure. Aria and Perry were quite sweet. At first I wasn’t feeling the chemistry between them all that much, but then it just took off and wow, those two are just so freakin’ cute as a couple. I loved them.

I also loved how much we got to see Aria grow in just this one book. Well, I think both her and Perry grew to a certain extent. But Aria I noticed the most. It was so gradual that I didn’t even really realize it until I was thinking about the book after the fact.

In the next book I hope to see a lot more world building and of course more Aria and Perry moments! The ending…ahh. That just about killed me. Not in a bad way, it was just too vague. But it certainly made me want to pick up the next book as soon as it’s out! :)
