Ghostly Echoes (Jackaby #3) by William Ritter

Ghostly Echoes brings forth a continuance to an unsolved case that seems to repeat through the course of history. Abigail Rook is on a mission to help a ghost try to remember her past and find clues that connect to her murder. Creepy, but not really. This installment to the Jackaby series allows us to have a closer look at the paranormal seer-detective, Jackaby. He has some interesting secrets that we would not expect from him, and there is a visit to the underworld for Abigail.

I was not too impressed with the plot, only due to the fact that I am not a huge paranormal reader. It takes . . . I don’t have a word for it, but the book has to have some kind of “UMPH” or “AHA” for me to like it more than just “MEH”. I do like, however, that the story answers some questions from the last book and it did leave me wanting to know more about the mystery. The second book was definitely a better read in terms of plot. Charlie the shape-shifter is still my favorite paranormal cop.

A little disclaimer: I had tried to have a review for this book last summer, but a few things happened and I haven’t been back until now. Also, I had requested a copy of this book directly from the publisher for a review. I do want to finish the story. I mean, I’m 3 books in and the series is ending with a 4th book. I need closure.
