Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden. To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance. Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out….Princess Breena had been dreaming of her warrior lover when she was ripped from her Elden castle and thrown into a strange, dangerous realm. Lost and alone, she prayed for survival and vengeance for her stolen kingdom. She found both in a woodland cottage…in a dark bear of a man.The golden-haired beauty had eaten his food and slept in his bed when Osborn found her. Though he wanted to awaken his virgin princess to carnal pleasures, Breena wanted more—including his warrior skills. Skills the once-legendary mercenary had long buried. Now Osborn had a choice—risk his life or deny his princess her fairy-tale ending.
My Review:

After not loving Lord of the Vampires as much as I was hoping I would, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Lord of Rage. While Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors, I have never read anything by Jill Monroe, so I wasn’t sure how I would like her writing style and all. But I really liked this one. I thought it was much stronger than Lord of the Vampires and I thought the story and her writing style flowed really smoothly.

The characters, Osborn and Breena, I actually liked much better than Nicolai and Jane. Although I didn’t dislike Nicolai and Jane, I thought that Breena as a heroine was more likeable than Jane and Osborn as a hero was less caveman-esk and more hot sexy man than Nicolai. Which is actually ironic considering he’s a berserker. I also really liked both of Osborn’s brothers. I thought they added a little something extra to the time Osborn and Breena had together. There were a couple moments that were very much plays on Goldilox and the three bears and I thought that was incredibly clever and fun.

As for the overall story, we got a little bit farther into the bigger picture and where things are heading for them taking back their kingdom of Elden, so I enjoyed that. I think it’ll be fun when all of the siblings finally come together in the end.

So overall, I really liked this. I wasn’t sure I would, but I’m glad to say that this is a big step up from the first book in the series. But, I gotta defend Gena a bit because she had a big role in setting up the whole world for the rest of the authors in the series. So she did a good job with that, which left this book more open to writing the actual story. I enjoyed Jill’s writing style a lot and will definitely be looking into her other works. I am also more pumped about the last two books and seeing how it all comes together.
