In the beginning, there’s a boy standing in the trees . . . .Clara Gardner has recently learned that she’s part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn’t easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there’s another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara’s less angelic side.As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart.
My Review:

Unearthly is one of the most gripping books I’ve read in awhile. Which is actually kind of funny because in some places one might say it’s a pretty slow-paced book. But the overall purpose and getting there was really intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put the book down.

But I’ll be honest, my love for the book isn’t entirely innocent. Part of it has to do with a certain boy named Tucker. If you haven’t met Tucker, you’re in for a treat. You’ll probably hate him at first, but trust me, this cowboy will grow on you. ;) While we’re on the subject of guys though I wasn’t a huge fan of Christian. He wasn’t a bad guy, but at times he frustrated me and I just wasn’t feeling him for Clara.

Sometimes angel stories can be hit or miss, but for me this was right on. My favorite moments were the times when Tucker was on the page though. There were so many times when I just wanted Clara to give up on the stupid destiny thing and run away with Tucker. lol But how the book played out was interesting and while not entirely a cliffhanger, it definitely left me craving more!

As for the setting. Wyoming. Who would’ve thought, but after reading this book and all the visuals, I seriously want to move there. I haven’t even been there and I want to blindly move there. It goes to show you though how vivid of a picture Cynthia Hand was able to paint. She did a great job at setting the scene, I felt like I was right there most of the time.

Overall, this is a great book. If you’re into young adult urban fantasy, but are not really a fan of angel books, I would give this one a shot. It might change your thoughts on them. I will say I’m not looking forward to the more prominent love triangle we’ll most likely get in the next book because I lovers my Tucker. But I’m still anxious to see what happens next!
