My Review:

I’ve come to expect quite a lot from my girl Kresley Cole because I tend to fall in love with every book she writes. She’s easily one of my top three favorite authors and Immortals After Dark is easily my favorite paranormal romance series. But I’m kind of missing the days of sassy Valkyries, Witches, and Sorceresses. You kind of take those chicks for granted a bit, but I’m so missing them! The past couple of books have had the female lead be a mortal (or soon-to-change immortal), and I just don’t find these chicks as interesting! :)

I’m glad that Uilleam finally got his book though, and I was curious how Kresley would make it work given that we were led to believe in previous books that his mate had already died. But yet again she made it work and fit the pieces of the puzzle together perfectly so that it all worked out in the end. I really felt for him throughout this book because it almost seemed like fate was just toying with him many times. Poor Will. :(

As for Chloe, I liked her, but again not as much as the immortal chickies we’ve got from the series in the past. She has a little bit of sass, but it’s not as funny and amusing, it just is.

One thing I definitely loved about this book though was Nucking Futs Nix! She makes a few appearances in this one and I always, always love her. She’s like a mad crazy genius, playing multiple chess pieces at once while maintaining her loopy outward appearance. Definitely a thin line there. Gotta love her though.

Also I love that we have a few new potential Lykae books on the horizon! We meet a few new characters, including Uilleam’s identical twin brother. Does it get any better than hot twins? I don’t think I remember meeting him in the past. But anyways, along with him, we meet a few others and I’m so looking forward to their smexy books.

So overall this was good, but not as good as I’ve come to expect from the series. The main thing is that I’m really missing the laugh-out-loud moments I used to get from these books all the time. The past several books (including the first Dacian’s book) were good but not as funny, and the sarcastic humor was one thing I loved most about this series. So I hope she brings that back a bit in the coming books. But still a great series, no doubt.
