Oracle’s Moon renewed my faith in this series. While the second two books in the series weren’t bad, they also weren’t what I was expecting after reading Dragon Bound. So I wasn’t sure how this one would turn out. Thankfully, it was awesome. Khalil is definitely my favorite male from this series so far and for me he totally made this book.
We met Grace and Khalil in the last book, Serpent’s Kiss. Grace, as the Oracle, helps Carling and Rune with the problem they’re having. But Grace has been pushed into the role of Oracle when her sister and brother-in-law are killed in a car accident. This leaves Grace with not only the role as Oracle (which is passed down to the females in the family), but also with her young nephew and niece to take care of. Quite a lot to handle all at once. But Kahlil comes along and offers to help with the children for his own reasons, which Grace doesn’t quite understand at first.
The chemistry between Grace and Khalil was smokin’ hot. I was totally hoping for their book to be next after Serpent’s Kiss because I was already feeling the sparks between them in that book. But in this book, while the romance is gradual and I could definitely feel their connection blooming, I also could understand these two being together. They make sense as a couple despite their differences, which made their interactions all the more special.
But let’s get back to Khalil for a second. *sigh* He’s such a sweet thing. I loved him. He is a Djinn, which is essentially a being of pure energy. His natural form is basically smoke, but he can shift into really any form he wishes, although he normally chooses just his go-to one. But because of who he is, he is also a bit socially clueless. He’s been alive for a very long time, but he doesn’t normally mingle with humans. So the moments where he tries to be smooth and act human with Grace are entirely endearing and had me absolutely melting. He’s so cute.
So Oracle’s Moon was definitely a hit for me. Sure Khalil was a big reason for that, but don’t get me wrong, there were other great things about the book too. Grace was sassy and sarcastic (in a good way), the two kids were so adorable, and the story was interesting (although a little confusing at times). But overall, this was a great one and I really hope that Grace and Khalil play a role in Dragos and Pia’s second book because I want more of them!
